Cost of Living Crisis - How We Are Helping

Sanctuary cost of living

We know that the rising cost of living  is having an impact on students, and we’ve been working closely with the university to help in any way we can. We’ve co-created a new ‘cost of living’ web page, which will list all the sources of support available to UoC students, and we hope that this will go live later this week (keep an eye on our social media!).

As your SU, we run two schemes that help towards the cost of living:

  • Free period products – available in selected toilets on campus, or at any main campus reception
  • Free ‘keep me going’ gift cards, to the value of £20. These are available for Tesco, Asda, Morrisons or Sainsburys, and they’re designed to help with emergency food supplies – keeping you going until your loan/funding/wages comes through. You can request yours here.

It’s our role to work on the issues that affect you, so we’d love to hear from you. Are there any cost of living issues that are affecting you? Let us know, so we can continue to work with the university on your behalf. Drop us an email at student.union@cumbria.ac.uk
