Role & Ambition

  1. What motivated you to run for this role in the student union?

"I genuinely enjoy university life and understand the pressures and challenges students often face. This inspired me to run for this position, as I’m passionate about helping the student body have a rewarding and enjoyable experience."

 

2. What do you hope to achieve during your time in office? Are there any specific projects or issues you’re passionate about?

 

"I want to make sure students feel heard and seen. In terms of projects, I’m excited to work with the student body to create fun and memorable events that bring people together."

 

 

3. What do you think will be the biggest challenge in your role, and how are you preparing to tackle it?

 

 “DEADLINES!”

 

4. How do you plan to engage with students and ensure their voices are heard?

 

"By being an approachable and visible presence around the university, I want students to feel comfortable coming to me to share their experiences. Communication is the key.

5. What does being part of the student union mean to you personally?

“It makes me feel part of something bigger. Something exciting and fabulous”

 

 

Background & Experience

6. What did you study (or are currently studying), and how has that shaped your approach to student representation?

 

Fine Art.

  "Studying Fine Art has taught me to think creatively, listen to different perspectives, and appreciate diverse voices—all of which are essential in representing students effectively and inclusively."

 

 

7. Have you had any previous leadership or volunteer experience before taking on this role?

 

“In First Year, I co-chaired a group of fellow students to volunteer and create art works relating to diversity alongside Multicultural Cumbria.”

 

8. What’s one lesson or skill from your studies or past experiences that you think will help you most in this role?

 

“The current project (my degree show project) has taught me a lot about resilience and patience while being flooded with millions of emails and constant updates. This will definitely be useful.”

9. What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

“I have never seen Mamma Mia.”

 

 

10. What’s your go-to way to unwind after a busy day?

 

“Shower, Food and PlayStation 5”

 

 

11. Do you have a favourite spot on campus (or in the city/town) and why?

 

“I love the editing suite’s at the Brampton Road Campus, They make me feel so professional and the editing software on the PC’s is great.”

“In Carlisle, I like walking through Bitts Park with a Iced Matcha Latte, Regardless of the weather.”

 

12. If you could have dinner with any historical or public figure, who would it be and why?

 

“Alan Turing. He was an iconic Queer figure.”

 

 

13. What’s a song, film, or book that inspires you or you always come back to?

 

“King of my Heart – Sub Radio.”

 

 

14. How would your friends describe you in three words?

Vibrant.”

“Loud.”

“Welcoming.”

 

 

 

15. What's one goal—personal or professional—you’d like to achieve by the end of the academic year?

 

Personal – “Get to my ideal size.”

Professional – “Make an impact.”
