Ryan Simmons - Academic Officer
Hi, I'm Ryan, your Academic Officer at the Student's union. I graduated the BA(Hons) Photography programme in 2023, and I have been running workshops, community events and arts initiatives since my original career teaching music from 2014.
Whilst studying, I have been a course rep and a student ambassador for all three years, alongside leading the Wildlife Society and founding the Gallery Society from 2021.
Our societies, and our student communities, have defined my degree experience, and I have always sought opportunity to build upon them.

Kara Ashurst - Activities Officer
Hi there, I’m Kara your elected UCSU Activities officer for 2023-2024 and I am here to help make your student experience the best it can be! As a recent graduate from BA(hons) Photography I understand the importance of an enriched student life and the positive impact it can have on your study. During my time as Activities officer, I intend to focus on creating a greater sense of community within the campuses. Paula Nwachukwu - Welfare Officer
Salutations , I’m Paula your elected UCSU Welfare officer for 2023-2024 and I am here to help make your student experience the best it can be! As a recent graduate from BA(hons) Theatre and Performance. I understand the importance of an enriched student life and the positive impact it can have on your study. During my time as Welfare Officer , I intend to focus on creating a greater sense of community and inclusion between International and Domestic students so each may feel at home in their campus city/town.
