Category: Students' Union
Hi,
I'm a year 3 Adult Nursing Student. I'm due to finish my final placement in a few weeks, so will no longer need my uniform.
My uniform isn't pristine but it is still smart and in very-good condition. Throwing it away seems like a waste and I know that other students in my cohort have often struggled for uniforms.
Currently, students get one set in year 1 to last them 3 years and have to buy replacement uniforms, if it becomes damaged or no longer usable, which is difficult on a student's budget. People's bodies change shape, some get ruined in the wash (it is white!) some tear or get spoiled through placement.
I was wondering if good quality uniform items could be donated to the student union to a uniform library so that future students, who need to replace items of their uniform could access second-hand ones for free. This would reduce waste and save money, and seems like a better use of resources than throwing them away.
Many thanks
Beth
