Welcome to the Wildlife Society!

 

Hi everyone!

We're a group of students that love wildlife and nature, and we want to share our knowledge and experience with others. We’ve been working hard to help make the Brampton Road Campus a wilder place. Thanks to the work of the society we now have a flourishing biodiversity area which is home to tree sparrows, shrews and northern marsh orchids. One of our main jobs is keeping this area in great ecological condition, as well as maintaining the bird hide we’ve installed over there, which is accessible to anyone in the society.

 

The society’s yearly programme also includes:

· Talks from students and professionals throughout the year

· Trips

· Local walks

· An annual calendar competition – submit your best images for consideration for 2025!

· Volunteering at local events

We also help out with a Bioblitz at the end of the year and will no doubt get involved with other events too!

Whether you're confident with nature skills or a complete amateur we welcome anyone, from any course, to join the society – as long as you love nature! Some of us are wildlife photographers, others zoologists, others wildlife artists, but we’re all united by our shared love for getting outside and admiring the natural world. Carlisle is a great city to be a nature lover, with its close proximity to the Lakes, the North Pennines and the Solway, as well as an abundance of green space that we hope to make the most of.
